6 Incredible Gold Coast Tours

Local media personality and die-hard surf lover Liz Cantor knows a thing or two about the best to see and do here on the Gold Coast.

We had a chat to get the low-down on Liz’s must-do tour experiences to help you put together your ultimate GC itinerary.

At the top of Liz’s list – and ironically the top of the Gold Coast – is the Q1 SkyPoint Climb. Not for the faint-hearted, the 270-meter-high open-air experience is sure to get the heart thumping, blood pumping, and eyes bulging- in all the good ways, of course. Liz recommends the Twilight Climb, where you can marvel over unparalleled views of the city’s skyline, pick up a historical tip or two from the knowledgeable climbing guides, then enjoy a well-deserved cold one at the Observation Deck post-climb. Cheers to that!

Immerse yourself in the ancient culture of the Yugambeh people and book yourself a walkabout tour with the Jellugral Cultural Centre. Liz says it’s an extraordinary day trip which not only delves into the Coast’s rich Indigenous traditional life, culture and storytelling; but also shows you the intricate and inspirational details of some of our most beautiful waterways, landscapes, and headlands.

Liz loves the water – so it’s no surprise she’s suggested you get out there amongst the waves and make a splash! On the Seaway Water Bike and Snorkeling Tour, you’ll ride to Wave Break Island, enjoy a picnic on the beach and snorkel with the friendly marine life – perfect for those who adore the ocean just as much as Liz does. P.S. There’s a good chance you’ll spot dolphins, so be sure to pack the camera.

Food and wine? We’re sold already. But seriously, if you want to enjoy the gastronomical side to the GC and meet the chefs that pioneer our city’s culinary landscape, an excursion with Gold Coast Food and Wine is beckoning you. Offering tours from private to premium, Liz says you’ll taste your way through local wines and five-star dishes that will leave you smitten with the Gold Coast’s burgeoning foodie scene.

If you’re keen to escape to Mother Nature and get a good dose of fresh mountain air, Liz recommends checking out the Hinterland tours offered up by Southern Cross 4WD. Trek through World Heritage listed rainforests, home to almighty waterfalls, ancient trees and rare and wondrous wildlife all in the safe hands of your experiences driver. SC4WD without a doubt offers up the best experiences to uncover the green behind the gold.

Picture sweeping sunrise views of the GC’s rolling Hinterland from up-above, followed by a gourmet champagne breakfast at one of Queensland’s most celebrated vineyards. Sounds, pretty dang good, right? Well, adventure lovers, that’s exactly what’s on the agenda when you hit the skies for a Hot Air Balloon Ride with O’Reilly’s Tour. This one is so special it’s even on Liz’s #BucketList.

Most mornings start the same for local media personality and TV presenter Liz Cantor – a surf check from her living room window, a run along the beach, and a dip in the ocean (or a paddle if the surf is pumping). A former professional surfer who travelled the world for iconic surf brand Billabong, Liz epitomizes what it means to be a Gold Coaster, living and breathing our laidback, coastal culture. Today Liz appears regularly on Queensland Weekender and Creek to Coast, is the presenter of the national Lotto draws and evening weather for Seven Gold Coast News.
