Remembering the ANZACs

April 2020

We remember the ANZACs on 25 April, in honour of all the men and women who have participated in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations around the world.

RSL Queensland is asking the community to stand together, united in spirit to remember all those who have served and sacrificed by lighting up the dawn. Whether at the end of your driveway, on your balcony or in your living room, light a candle and show your support.

From 6am, RSL Queensland will be streaming a short commemorative service, comprising The Ode, The Last Post, a minute’s silence, and Reveille.

To pledge your place to honour all those who served and sacrificed and to play the ANZAC service, head to their page.

Currumbin RSL

Currumbin RSL is known for their iconic Dawn Service at Elephant Rock, this year will be different but still special. Tune in to their social channels for a mid-morning service at 11am. The private service includes a speech from their President, Mr Michael Humphreys, the Roll of Honour read by Past President, Mr Ron Workman OAM as well as the Ode. There will also be the bagpipe lament and the Last Post performed in line with formal commemoration procedures.

To be involved, head to their Facebook page.

Nerang RSL

To honour the spirit of Anzacs and mateship the Nerang RSL is sharing memories each night at 6pm.

They are also inviting the community to send in photos of those loved ones/friends who you wish to show your respect to, they will then print the photo and write the name of the veteran on the back and place on the cenotaph with a sprig of Rosemary. A post will be made on ANZAC Day showing the cenotaph and all the memorial photos.

Photos can be provided via Nerang RSL & Memorial Club or email benh@nerangrsl.com
