Remembering the ANZACs

April 2021

We remember the ANZACs on 25 April, in honour of all the men and women who have participated in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations around the world.

The following services have been confirmed by RSL Queensland. Please check their website for updates*.

Burleigh Heads Services

Dawn Service – 4:15 AM – 5:00 AM – Memorial Park – Cnr Connor St and Gold Coast Highway, Burleigh Heads.

March – 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM – James Street, Burleigh Heads

Main Service9:30 AM – 11:00 AM – Memorial Park – Cnr Connor St and Gold Coast Highway, Burleigh Heads.

 

Currumbin/Palm Beach Dawn Service

4:40 AM – 6:30 AM – Currumbin Palm Beach RSL Cenotaph – 165 Duringan Street, Currumbin.

ONLINE BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL – As the name suggests, the Dawn Service begins just before dawn, with the sun rising as it draws to a close. The timing is likely based on the fact that the ill-fated landing on the Gallipoli peninsula began at dawn. Steeped in tradition and protocol, the Dawn Service is particularly poignant, featuring the laying of wreaths, sounding of the Last Post and observance of a minute’s silence.

Join us to commemorate the service and sacrifice of Australian service people in every war and conflict since World War I.Form up at 4:15am at the northeast side of the Great Lawn at Broadwater Parklands and step off at 4:35am and march along the Broadwater foreshore to ANZAC Park for the service at 5:00am.

 

Currumbin/Palm Beach Mid Morning Service

10:55 AM – 11:15 AM – Currumbin Palm Beach RSL Cenotaph – 165 Duringan Street, Currumbin.

ONLINE BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL – Current and former service people, Cadets, Scouts and Guides, and schoolchildren participate in the ANZAC Day March in recognition of the sacrifices of all those who have served in the Australian Defence Force.

 

Coolangatta/Tweed Heads Main Service

11:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Queen Elizabeth II Park, Marine Parade, Coolangatta

The commemoration will focus on members and veterans, and will not include our usual school participation.

Please refer to the detailed plan which will be published on our website and updated as necessary.

 

Mudgeeraba/Robina Services

Sausage sizzle – 4:45 AM – 6:00 AM – Mudgeeraba RSL Sub Branch under the Memorial Hall, 62 Railway Street, Mudgeeraba

Dawn service5:45 AM – 6:45 AM – Elsie Laver Park, Mudgeeraba (next to Mudgeeraba Police Station), Mudgeeraba.

Gunfire breakfast7:00 AM – 8:00 AM – Mudgeeraba Memorial Hall, 62 Railway Street, Mudgeeraba

North Gold Coast Morning Service – Coomera

10:50 AM – 11:50 AM – Abraham And Reserve Roads, Coomera

The 2021 ANZAC Day Morning Service will commence at 10.50 am with a veteran’s march from the City of Gold Coast Council Community Centre Car park in Abraham Road Coomera and proceed along the footpath onto the memorial site at the corner of Abraham and Reserve Roads.  Please assemble by 10.45 am.

Floral Tributes will be accepted and prominently displayed.

COVID-19 safety measures will be in place with a number of Q codes being available for your action.  Due to the many aged veterans and community members attending, it is asked that you wear a mask.

All Service personnel (past and present) whether members of the RSL or not, are invited to join the veteran’s march.

Next of Kin wearing deceased Service Personnel’s medals (medals on the right breast shirt area) are invited to march in memory of their family member.

 

North Gold Coast Dawn Service – Helensvale

5:20 AM – 6:00 AM – Remembrance Park, 20 Discovery Drive, Helensvale

Nerang Services

Nerang service march – 4:15 AM – 4:45 AM – White Street to Nerang RSL, 69 Nerang Street, Nerang

Dawn service – 4:45 AM – 6:00 AM – Cenotaph in front of RSL and Memorial Club – Nerang.

March – 9:45 AM – 10:00 AM – March will proceed down Nerang Street to the Cenotaph

Commemorative Service10:00 AM – 11:00 AM – Cenotaph in front of RSL and Memorial Club – Nerang.

Robina Service

8:30 AM – 11:00 AM – Robina Community Centre Auditorium, 196 Robina Town Centre Drive, Robina

March will assemble at 8am in Arbour Lane, Robina Town Centre, across from Target. March moves off at 8.30am and finishes at the car park next to the Robina Auditorium. Parade participants and groups to register online.

The Service will commence at 9am and due to capacity restrictions, attendees require a ticket. The service will also be live streamed at www.robinaanzacday.com.au.

Light refreshments will be available following the service at Robina Community Centre.

This event is running under a QLD Health COVIDSafe event plan and attendees are asked to observe all signage and health measures in place. Thank you for your support.

Runaway Bay Dawn Services

Dawn Service – 5:00 AM – 5:30 AM – Anzac Place Cenotaph, Lae Drive, Runaway Bay

Main Service – 10:00 AM – 11:15 AM – Anzac Place Cenotaph, Lae Drive, Runaway Bay

March – 9:30 AM – 10:00 AM – Super Sports Centre – Runaway Bay to Anzac Place Cenotaph, Runaway Bay

 

Surfers Paradise Services

March5:00 AM – 6:00 AM – 9 Beach Road, Surfers Paradise

Anyone wishing to march is to meet out the front of Subway, 9 Beach Road Surfers Paradise QLD 4217 from 4.45am. They will then march to the ANZAC Memorial along The Esplanade, Surfers Paradise.

Dawn Service – 6:00 AM – 6:30 AM – ANZAC Memorial, The Esplanade, Surfers Paradise

Gunfire Breakfast – 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM – Diggers and Sports Club, Level 2, 9 Beach Road, Surfers Paradise

ANZAC Day Gunfire Breakfast. We ask that you click ‘going’ on the Facebook event below so we can get an idea of numbers for catering.

Cost: $5 per head (Veterans who show their RSL QLD Membership card will be free).

Main Service12:00 PM – 1:00 PM – The Cenotaph – Cavill Park, Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise

Join us to commemorate the service and sacrifice of the original ANZACs and all the service men and women who have followed in their footsteps at the ANZAC Day service.

The commemorative service will include the time-honoured laying of wreaths, the sounding of the Last Post and the observance of a minute’s silence.

 

Southport Day Event

4:15 AM – 10:00 AM – ANZAC Park, Broadwater Parklands, Gold Coast Hwy, Southport

0415 – Dawn Service Form up Short St/ Marine PDE Southport.

0430 – Dawn Service March to ANZAC Park Via Gold Coast HWY (Veterans Only).

0500 – Dawn Service ANZAC Park, Broadwater Parklands Southport.

Citizens Service

0730 – Citizens Service Form up Short St / Marine PDE Southport

0830 – Citizens Service march To ANZAC Park Via Gold Coast HWY (Veterans Only).

0900 – Citizens Service ANZAC Park,Broadwater Parklands Southport.
