Best bakeries to hop to this Easter

Maggie Gray | March 2021

The wait is over, it’s finally time to throw that diet out the window and start counting eggs not calories!

Easter is upon us, and we’ve hunted down the best local bakeries that you’re going to want to treat yo’self to. Some of these sweet eats are bound to sell out, so grab your friends and fam and hop to it. No egg-scuses!

Bam Bam Bakehouse | Mermaid Beach

Artisan bakehouse and patisserie Bam Bam Bakehouse is the talk of the town for good reason. Their authentic croissants and mind-blowing pastries have earned them the rep as one of the best bakeries around. Never one to shy away from a good ol’ Easter bake-off, this year, Bam Bam pastry chefs are injecting the freshly baked hot crossies with creme patissiere (aka the best custard ever) so there’s a pocket of goodness inside. Also offering Hot Cross Bun French Toast served with chantilly cream and real maple syrup, why not add bacon and fresh banana for an egg-stravagant treat?

Tarte Bakery & Café | Burleigh

Burleigh’s new kid on the block Tarte Bakery has everything from light bites to substantial sized eats. The Parisian and New York inspired fit out is refined, sophisticated and welcoming all at the same time. If you haven’t visited this delightful eatery yet – then Easter is the time to do so. This Easter, Tarte will be slingin’ house-made decadent chocolate truffle balls, and an Easter Crueller with white chocolate praline and gooey salted caramel as well as an Easter Bunny display window fit for the gram!

Paddock Bakery | Miami

Nestled in the heart of buzzing Burleigh Heads, local haunt Paddock is a wood-fire bakery and dog friendly café that leaves you feeling like you’ve stepped into an Alice in Wonderland tea party. Speaking of the Mad Hatter – the crew at Paddock have some particularly crazy creations just waiting for you to try this Easter. Their famous Easter dippy eggs are back featuring two hollow Cadbury Chocolate Easter Eggs filled with vanilla whipped cream and a salted caramel ’yolk’ ~ served with Paddock’s doughnut dippy fries, fresh strawberry, mini marshmallows, malted milo soil and a pretzel cookie crumb, this is better than a visit from the Easter Bunny!

Custard Canteen | Tallebudgera

This waterside bakehouse is famous for its hero product – the Portuguese custard tart. If you can look beyond this delicate, flakey, melt-in-your-mouth moment however, you will find a menu that goes far beyond this signature treat. Traditional, fluffy, fruit-filled hot cross buns, fresh in-store or pre-order now for pick-up.

5B2F Bakehouse | Chirn Park

At 5B2F Bakehouse, owner Moonsun Yoo makes everything from scratch: pies, sausage rolls, French pastries, croissants, cronuts, cakes – even marzipan! 5B2F stands for the Biblical reference ‘five bread, two fish’ – so Easter doesn’t go unnoticed here. This year they have put a spin on the classic hot cross bun, made with buttery sticky bun with port wine marinated sultanas, currents, cranberries, apricot and orange peel. Also serving up Easter egg profiterole’s, we’re egg-cited!

Fuel Bakehouse | Currumbin

Fuel bakery does things differently – they specialise in pies, doughnuts and coffee, and boy oh boy do they do them well. This Easter, Fuel Bakehouse will have hot cross buns a plenty, and if you’re lucky you might even snag an Easter Cruffin. Egg-citing stuff!

Horner’s Bakery | Bundall

The famous Horner’s of Sorrento Bakery & Patisserie has been baking savoury sensations, sweet temptations, and delicious treats for all celebrations for 50 years. If you’re looking to avoid arriving to your Easter brunch empty handed, hop on into Horner’s – you’ll be in egg-cellent hands.

Three Jacks Baking | Nobbys Beach

Three Jacks are giving the Easter Bunny a run for his money this year and are offering free delivery to most Gold Coast locations over the Easter weekend.
