With Christmas fast approaching, the season to be festive is upon us, so if you are looking for that special place to share your cheer, we have nailed down the best local spots to watch the annual Christmas carols on the Gold Coast.

Runaway Bay Lions ‘Carols by Candlelight’ – 30 November

The jolly festivities of the Christmas season begin here, with a free evening of family entertainment run by the Runaway Bay Lions Club. This year’s impressive event is hosted by local personalities John Kerr & Danielle Goullet, with special guests Sabrina Durante, Jack Watson, local entertainers and our favourite jolly man, SANTA!

Live music, dancers, school choirs, vocal groups, Paradise Kids Angel Choir and a fireworks spectacular is what guests can expect from this year’s festivities alongside a variety of food stalls, sausage sizzles, face painting and roaming Christmas characters to keep every member of the family entertained.

A raffle will run throughout the evening will proceeds and donations supporting ‘Paradise Kids,’ so bring your family, a rug and your festive Christmas spirit and secure a good spot for the evening’s bounty of entertainment.

‘Tugun Lights Up’ – 30 November

The annual ‘Tugun Lights Up’ returns for its seventh consecutive year, kicking off a month -long celebration of Christmas in Tugun Village.

The Christmas festival invites guests to come together and enjoy the spectacular Christmas Lights displays in shopfront windows, relish in dining out under the starts and enjoy the Christmas market stalls alongside a very special visit from Santa!

Tugun Lights Up is an initiative of Tugun Progress Association in conjunction with Connecting Southern Gold Coast, presented by City of Gold Coast Division 14 Cr Gail O’Neill and supported by the Blenkins Group and Tugun Community Bank Branch Bendigo Bank.

Collect all the stamps along the Tugun Trail and vote for the Best Shop Window Display on the night for the chance to win a $500 Bendigo Bank account thanks to Tugun Community Bank Branch.

Mudgeeraba Community Christmas Carols – 1 December

The Combined Churches of Mudgeeraba present this year’s Mudgeeraba Community Christmas Carols, inviting guests to enjoy a special night of rejoicing as the Christmas season fast approaches.

This free community event will include plenty of traditional Christmas carols, with performances from local schools, orchestras, choirs, and local dancers. Guests will be treated to a special visit from the big jolly man himself, and an evening full of festive family entertainment. This year’s Mudgeeraba Community Christmas Carols are a treat for the whole family.

Guests are encouraged to bring along a picnic rug and /or chairs and settle in for a night full of family fun. The events will have a variety of food trucks to tempt your taste buds, or guests are invited to bring along a picnic to enjoy the evening in whatever way they wish.

Tallebudgera ‘Valley Vibes’ Food truck festival and Christmas Carols – 1 December

What better spot to get festive this season than Creekside at the iconic Tallebudgera Community Hall? This year’s Valley Vibes Christmas event is in partnership with the Tallebudgera Uniting Church, providing free Christmas entertainment for the whole family!

This year’s festivities will be combined with a food truck festival, so a variety of delicious foods will also be available on the night. The evening will be accompanied by the familiar sounds of your favourite Christmas carols, in sing along style for the whole family to enjoy. The event is free and open to all, so pack your picnic rugs and your appetite and head down for an evening of Christmas festivity.

Oxenford ‘Studio Village Community Carols’ at Studio Park – 6 December

Christmas cheer is available all afternoon down at Studio Park for their annual ‘Studio Village Community Carols,’ with exciting entertainment from Ethan Hill, Santa himself and some of his reindeer friends!

The evening will be full of festive performances from local singers belting out some of your favourite Christmas carol classics alongside pony rides, jumping castles and food, all available from 4pm.

The local weather report says that there is snow fall predicted for late in the evening! (WOW!) So, the excitement will continue into the night, with the Christmas spirit really coming to life in this Gold Coats winter wonderland!

Southport Mercedes-Benz ‘Mayors Christmas Carols’ – 7 December

The eighth annual ‘Mayors Christmas Carols’ are proudly presented by Mercedes-Benz Gold Coast and are an iconic, free, family-friendly event that is set to impress and amaze locals.

The event commences with interactive kids-fun at 2pm with the main show set to kick off at 5pm, with headline performer, ‘David Campbell’ and special guests ‘Emma Pask’ ‘Brothers 3’ and local trio ‘Sirens,’ gracing the stage this year.

The festivity will continue with a special appearance from the special man himself, Santa with guests invited to sing along to their favourite classic Christmas carols with the ‘Allstars Christmas Countdown’ and ‘The Grinch Live Show.’ The entertainment is set to impress the whole family and there will be an abundance of delicious food trucks.

Upper Coomera ‘Carols in the Park’ – 7 December

The Upper Coomera Christmas festivities invite guests to enjoy live performances of beloved traditional community carols alongside a very special visit from Santa in ‘Signato Park.’

The festivities will include a Rotary run BBQ and a selection of delicious food vans to treat the whole family, guests are invited to meet and take photos with Santa and test their luck in a fabulous raffle!

Bring your family, friends, a rug or chair and help the Rotary Club of Coomera Valley celebrate Christmas with fun, food, carols and your community.

Ormeau Christmas Carols – 8 December

Tis’ the season to be jolly and where better than the exciting, fun filled celebrations at the ‘Ormeau Carols?’ Boasting a variety of free rides, face painting, scrumptious food, free photos with Santa, and a grand finale firework display, these carols are not to be missed!

With celebrations starting at 4pm, there is plenty of family entertainment prior to the evening carols show at 7pm, sure to keep the little ones excited and busy.

Parking can be accessed for this event via Peachey Road or Orange Mountain Road. Make sure you give a high five to the amazing volunteers who help make sure everyone finds a place to park!

Currumbin Community Christmas Carols – 9 December

Santa is coming to Currumbin for a magical evening under the stars. Get the whole family into the festive spirit at the annual Currumbin Community Christmas Carols at Galleon Park. This free event is set to get every member of the family in the Christmas spirit!

Sing along to your favourite Christmas songs led by an impressive cast of local talent. The event has a variety of free children’s activities including an impressive craft station, hula hoops, jumping castle and face painting from 5.30pm. The event has something for everyone with a variety of delicious food tucks that also include dinner and desserts options.

The evening will then delight guests with a traditional Christmas concert from 6pm with roving entertainment throughout the evening and a laser light show at the conclusion of the event.

This spectacular event is proudly sponsored by Division 14 Cr Gail O’Neill and is set to get the Gold Coast well and truly jolly!

Burleigh Heads Christmas Carols – 12 December

The perfect spot to enjoy an evening of free family fun entertainment, Burleigh Heads Memorial Park and John Laws Park will be alive with celebrations and classic Christmas music. Bring the family and a picnic blanket, relax and sing along to your favourite Christmas carols.

The event includes two hours of interactive entertainment for children and families at Memorial Park, followed by two hours of live stage performances of our beloved Christmas carols on Burleigh Hill. With such a spectacular backdrop, the festivities really have something for everyone!

This year’s celebrations are proudly brought to you by Division 12 Councillor Pauline Young and are set to bring Burleigh to life with Christmas spirit.

Varsity Lakes ‘Carols by the Lake’ – 14 December

This lakeside Christmas celebration is taking place at Varsity Promenade and will includes plenty of free Christmas fun for the whole family to enjoy. The festivities will include a variety of kid’s activities with live entertainment and Christmas carolling.

The celebrations will also include thrilling water jet pack stunts, delicious food, classic Christmas carols, a very special appearance from Santa followed by an exciting fireworks display.

Bring your picnic blankets and join Councillor Hermann Vorster, Robina Lions Club, Hope Church and many more for a festive night out with your local community.

Broadbeach Christmas Carols – 14 December

These spectacular Christmas carols are proudly presented by Pacific Fair and are shaping up to be a very special Christmas event.

Hosted by 102.9 Hot Tomato’s Flan, Emily Jade and Christo, with carols being sung by special guests Rachael Beck, Martin Crewes, the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra and the Gold Coast Youth Choir, this event is not to be missed!

The evening’s festivities include free kids rides, a variety of delicious food trucks, special appearances from Santa and a spectacular fireworks display!

Labrador ‘Carols in the Park’ – 14 December

Carols in the Park are shaping up to be a ‘must attend’ event again this year in the lead up to Christmas. This free Community event, hosted by local personality, Danielle Goullet, will include carols performed by a live 7-piece band with supporting entertainers, Craig Martin, Rhydian Lewis, Kiara Rodriguez, Jack Watson, Sharon Rowntree and Acapella group, Coastal Charisma.

The celebrations will also include performances from local school choirs, dancing squads and the ‘Salvation Army Brass Band.’  The evening’s centrepiece will be ‘The Meaning of Christmas’ as shared by our local school children as they appear in stunning costumes in a special nativity scene, complete with real camels, sheep and a donkey. This traditional Christmas feature is the ONLY one of its kind on the Gold Coast and so is a ‘must not miss’ Christmas event!

The night boasts a bunch of delicious food vendors serving food, drinks and dessert options that can be purchased on the night. There will also be free face-painting, a giant snow globe, glow necklaces for sale, and everyone’s favourites Christmas characters will provide an evening of family fun and enjoyment.

A fantastic Fireworks Spectacular will send us off with a bang at 8pm. The event will be presented through the proud sponsorship of Councillor Kristyn Boulton, Div. 4, City of Gold Coast, will be held at Norm Rix Park, Government Rd, Labrador.

Coolangatta Christmas Carols – 15 December 

This free community event is the perfect way to celebrate the magic of Christmas, with Coolangatta’s Queen Elizabeth Park coming alive with the crowds of the Gold Coast.
Guests are invited to sing along to their favourite traditional Christmas carols with special guest Denis Walter, with Christmas markets, food trucks and a classic ‘Rotary Club’ sausage sizzle, set to delight the whole family!

The Coolangatta Christmas Carols will be a ‘no plastic bottle zone’ in an effort to preserve the beautiful local area, reduce waste and protect the environment. There will be four water refill-stations set up so please bring your own water bottles as NO plastic bottles will be sold on site.

Jacobs Well ‘Community Carols by Candlelight’ – 15 December

Reisenwebber Park is the ideal spot to relish in community Christmas spirit and share a carol with the local Jacobs Well community. Kicking off at 5:30pm with an abundance of children’s entertainment, followed by a special visit from Santa himself, these community carols are set to be as festive as ever.

Bring a chair and picnic rug and settle in for the night to the sounds of the Jacobs Well Community Choir and special guest appearances singing some of your favourite Christmas tunes, finishing with a firework spectacular. Food van’s, sausage sizzle, raffles and glow merchandise all available for sale on the night, keeping families entertained and satisfied with such a variety of food and entertainment options!

Palm Beach ‘Christmas by the sea’ – 17 December 

The iconic ‘Christmas by the sea’ is returning for its 13th year, spreading Christmas cheer to the Southern Gold Coast. This free community event is held at Palm Beach Parklands and is run by a committee of local businesses who are passionate about giving back to the local community.

Entertainment on offer includes an exciting ‘kids wonderland,’ which is complete with a jumping castle, face painting stalls, craft activities, Santa photos, baby animals and much more! These activities will be followed by local musicians and performers stunning crowds with traditional carols as the suns sets. The event boasts a large street food market offering affordable cuisine from all over the world, with plenty of delicious savoury and sweet options that will keep the whole family fed and happy.

The evening culminates in a spectacular firework display over the sea at the family friendly time of 8pm. The event draws in a crowd of over 5000 people so be sure to come on down, secure a spot and immerse yourself in the relaxed seaside festivities.

Surfers Paradise ‘Carols on the Beach’ – 22 December

What a spectacular spot to bring the family and celebrate the magic of Christmas, at the iconic and much-loved Surfers Paradise Beach. Guests are invited to bring their loved ones and be captivated by the only Queensland carols concert on the beach and under the stars.

This special event is hosted by Channel Nine’s Bruce Paige and HIT90.9 breakfast show announcer, Ben Hannant, and is set to be an evening of Christmas magic!

The event features a very special line-up of local talent, including energetic dance troupes, Christmas choirs and much more!
