We’ve got 57km of gorgeous coastline to choose from. From south to north, here are the best beaches to chill out and soak up the sun.

Rainbow Bay / Snapper Rocks

Sit with a schooner on the balcony of Rainbow Bay Surf Club and watch world class surfers take on the break at Snapper Rocks.  Wander around the headland to Point Danger and you can spot the lighthouse at Byron Bay.

An endless parade of beach walkers trek around Kirra Point, and you’ll see why.  This family-friendly beach has great waves, perfect soft sand and plenty of café and pub options within wandering distance.

Chill in Currumbin and you can choose from the beach, the SLSC balcony, the very surf-worthy Currumbin Alley, the laid-back creek, coffee shops, cafes and Balter Brewery.  Take your pick.

Palm Beach

Ahoy there matey! You can chillax while the kids go nuts on a full sized pirate ship park! Flanked by sandy shores, calm waves and shady bbq areas, the south end of Palmy will keep everyone happy.

Tallebudgera Creek

Break out the bucket and spade and relive those childhood beach holidays you loved so much. Talle Creek is the perfect, sheltered spot to set up your beach umbrella, blow up your inflatable unicorn and float away the day.

Burleigh Heads

Burleigh has it all for swimmers, surfers, walkers, foodies and people-watchers.  Stake out a spot on the headland hill and relax as you drink in the view.

Nobby Beach

Nobby wins first prize as a laid-back family beach. It has a great surf club, safe waves, a fun playground, BBQs, walking tracks and a family-friendly atmosphere.

Surfers Paradise

If you like to be amongst the action then this iconic beach in the heart of Surfers Paradise is for you. With easy access to everything and an invigorating vibe, you can chill out while the party buzzes around you.

The Spit

With calm Broadwater on one side and good surf breaks on the other, The Spit offers the best of both worlds.

Paradise Point

This is the perfect place to take a stroll, roll out the picnic rug and relax while overlooking the tranquil Broadwater. Kids will love the huge playground at Paradise Point foreshore and a wave-free roped-off swimming area is a safe place for littlies to get wet.

South Stradebroke Island

To really get away from the Games hype, jump on a ferry and take a day trip to South Straddy. We’re talking pristine beaches, peaceful bushland and plenty of natural, unspoilt beauty.  It’s the ultimate place to chill out.
