As the warm sun rises on another beautiful Gold Coast morning, it becomes abundantly clear how Gold Coasters love to get out and about.
With summer just around the corner, why not head to the City’s aquatic centres – they’re more than just swimming pools. They’re a hub of health and wellbeing with fully equipped fitness centres, learn to swim, group fitness, crèche facilities, kiosks and much more. They also have a wide range of aqua and gym programs and classes with options to suit everyone from toddler swimming lessons to squad training for elite athletes.
The eight centres are open seven days a week ALL year round at Helensvale, Miami, Mudgeeraba, Nerang, Palm Beach, Southport, Upper Coomera and Woongoolba. They are operated by onsite managers with qualified staff on duty, disabled access and full kiosk facilities. Chair lift access into one pool at each facility is also available.
Being active and healthy is not just about sweating it up at a gym or running a marathon, it’s an opportunity to get out and about, see and hear different things, be part of the community and build strong, long-lasting relationships. It’s also about invigorating your endorphins, getting fresh air, controlling weight and reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression. For those already exercising, why not step it up and try an activity that may be a little out of your comfort zone. Perhaps try skateboarding, rollerblading or horse-riding?
The city’s appetite for health and wellbeing breeds optimism and contentment and makes it unique – locals and visitors rise early, exercise and then move on with the rest of the day. This has empowered a range of clubs, programs, parks and recreational sports to be born that can help get everyone moving.
So don’t just sit there, grab a friend or family member, your towel and some water and spring into summer on the Gold Coast. There are plenty of activities for varying fitness levels, at city-wide locations, that cater to all interests.
