The Ultimate Dog Friendly Guide to the Gold Coast

Maggie Gray | January 2020

2020 was ruff, but we have some good news for you and your best fur-iend. We’ve rounded up the best dog-friendly dining, beaches and off-leash parks to ensure this summer is well spent with your four-legged friend in tail.

Best Dog Friendly Dining

One puppercino please! The Gold Coast is home to over 60,000 registered dogs, so it’s no surprise local cafes, restaurants and bars are getting on board to ensure our pawesome pals can join us when we are out and about. Here’s a list of the best dog-friendly dining destinations to set paw in.

Café Catalina

Grab the fam, and the goodest boy of all and head over to Broadwater Parklands for the morning. Overlooking the Broadwater is Cafe Catalina – complete with tasty food, a relaxing atmosphere and plenty of space for all (pooches included) to chill out. Snuggle up in a bean bag on the lawn and take in the natural surrounding beauty. Tummy scratches encouraged.
Where: Broadwater Parklands, 10/11 Gold Coast Hwy, Southport

Miss Moneypenny’s

Dogs are everyone’s best friend, including Miss Moneypenny’s. This Broadbeach restaurant welcomes ‘Dogs on the Deck’ seven days a week – simply grab a spot on the deck beneath the balmy arvo sun and enjoy tapas and cocktails with your doggo by your side.

The Henchman

With a laid back atmosphere, dog friendly café by day and a licensed restaurant by night – there is something for everyone at this Miami social spot. There is a large outdoor area which means you can easily nab a seat, and if you prefer a cosy seat inside – your fur baby is more than welcome indoors too.

Le Vintage Boutique Cafe

This quirky little cafe will have you sipping on some of the best coffee around and planning your next visit in no time. Nestled in the heart of Worongary, Le Vintage is popular with locals and their pooches looking for something with a whole lotta character.

Alfred’s Diner

Park up on a grassy mound with your picnic rug and pup or opt for the shade of a picnic table for a pawesome outdoor experience at Alfred’s Diner. Hit the Alfred’s crew up for a gourmet hotdog or breakfast burrito and we guarantee you won’t leave without an insta worthy picture of you and your pupperooni.
Where: 2389 Gold Coast Highway, Mermaid Beach

Glenelg Public House

Steak with your best (furry) mate? We think yes. Glenelg Public House has a menu which won’t just leave your doggo drooling. Dogs of all sizes are welcome outdoors in the beer garden – so grab a seat and enjoy some succulent meat!

Raw Espresso

Raw Espresso might just leave you wishing you’d been born with a tail and four legs. That’s right, Raw Espresso has a menu for doggos as well as hoomans! There’s yogurt snacks, healthy treats and wait for it… doggy ice cream made from coconut and peanut butter with flecks of bacon. Uhh, we’ll take two of those, thanks.
