Burleigh BBQ Championships
It’s not fog you’ll see rising over Burleigh…it will be smoke from 50 of Australia’s best barbecue competition teams battling it out for the highest honour in the annual Burleigh Barbecue Championships.
Using low and slow cooking and barbecue techniques across five categories – chicken, lamb, pork ribs, pork, beef and seafood – teams will present their plates to a panel of 50 judges for tasting.
The pit yard will be open to the public from 9am to 4pm daily so you can mingle with the masters, check out some of the biggest smokers you’ve ever seen and watch the theatrics unfold.
There will also be a trade area and market stalls where you can suss out, and purchase, all of the barbecue equipment you need to start smoking at home.
The best part is, once you’ve built up an appetite you can eat your fill of barbecue from the likes of Black Iron Barbecue, Smoke Barrel and Dusty Moose parked next to the pit yard, enjoy live entertainment from amazing local musicians and make a visit to the mobile bar with proceeds going to the North Burleigh Surf Club nippers.
Left over competition meat will be donated to Oz-harvest.
