The basic principal of co-working spaces has been tracked back hundreds of years to artist and writer collective communities who came together in a single location to master their art.
In 2005, Brad Neuberg coined the term ‘coworking space’ when he established the first recognised coworking site in San Francisco – Hat Factory.
Today, we’re seeing co-working spaces pop up in major cities all over the world as places where professionals can come together, collaborate and share ideas and knowledge, or simply where people can work in a shared physical office.

Cojimbo is located at the northern end of the Gold Coast, near Village Roadshow Studios. With film and production companies the majority at Cojimbo, there is a strong entrepreneurial culture.
CoSPACES is situated in one of Queensland’s true historical gems – one of the Gold Coast’s first ambulance stations that was built in 1922. With its central
CBD location, CoSPACES has a strong professional member base, including architects, advertising agencies, engineering firms, property and construction consultants, and accountants.
The Exchange space is located at 41 Nerang Street, Southport in the Telstra Exchange Building. Consisting of 300 square metres, 26 desks, a meeting room, kitchen, photography studio and four artist studio spaces, the CoSPACES Exchange space is home to a range of creative businesses.
Bringing urban culture and coffee together in its free collaborative workspace, Warehouse No.5 is at the forefront of a new era of work/play life balance. Located between the Burleigh Heads coastline and the industrial area, Warehouse No.5 is open weekdays with all the necessities to make business happen – 225 square metres of space, free WiFi, onsite barista, lunch menu and a ping pong table! When night falls the vibe continues as Warehouse No.5 transforms into a space for exhibitions, photo shoots, private events and a range of public workshops curated by their in-house team.
