Saturday Pottery Market embraces the Japanese art of Ikebana

Local potters embrace the Japanese art of Ikebana

In a glorious celebration of Spring, Gold Coast Potters will combine their talents with a Japanese Ikebana artist in an Ikebana demonstration using specially made vessels for this distinctive floral artform.

The demonstration is part of the Saturday Pottery Market and will be held on the verandah of the old gallery at Benowa.

Public are invited to the demonstration at 10.30am by Misako Tazoko and all Ikebana arrangements and their vessels will be for sale along with other specially designed Ikebana vessels by Gold Coast Potters.

Teacher Misako Tazoko takes a modern approach to Ikebana, while upholding the traditions of the artform. She says Ikebana often emphasizes areas of the plant such as stems and leaves and draws allusion to shape, line and form.

The resultant arrangements are breathtakingly beautiful and spiritually uplifting in their simplicity.

Don’t miss this fabulous combination Ikebana in local pottery demonstration, salute to Spring.
